SUMMARY:Crack the System: In Both Worlds: Peer Work Across Mental Health an
 d AOD
DESCRIPTION:For many peer workers\, walking alongside people in the AOD spa
ce also means walking with them through mental health challenges. But serv
ices\, systems\, and even language often separate these worlds.\n\nThis 90
-minute session centres peer workers who move between both spaces — me
ntal health and AOD — and who bring invaluable knowledge about what’s
possible when we stop working in silos. Together\, we’ll explore how pee
r workers are bridging fragmented systems\, supporting people holisticall
y\, and navigating the tensions of dual expectations\, role clarity\, and
worker wellbeing.\n\nThis session will unpack:\n\n What it means to hold
space for both AOD and mental health experiences\n How peer workers manag
 e competing frameworks\, services\, and identities\n The emotional comple
xity and power of working “in both worlds”\n Strategies for peer sust
ainability and safety in dual-role spaces\n
