Alcohol and Other Drugs Outreach Program
The QuIHN Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Outreach (Vulnerable Populations) Program primarily works with referrals from the Hospital and Health Service (HHS) area and provides an outpatient case management and counselling service with the capacity to provide limited after hour’s services to those affected by alcohol and/or substance use concerns.
Types of service provision include:
- Provision and engagement of clients in brief interventions involving education in treatment services, screens for eligibility, relevant support for those who are ineligible or choose not to formally enrol in the program, and primary health care interventions; and,
- Provision and engagement of clients in individually tailored, client-directed case-management; involving support, education, assessment, counselling, and social work support addressing other health and welfare needs; a further support is the engagement of clients in the MAISE group program:
The MAISE (Mental Health and Illicit Substance Education) Program is a support, skill building and education program for anyone experiencing the negative effects of drug use and mental health concerns (dual diagnosis). This is a two hour program facilitated over 8 weeks.
This program operates across the following regions: Brisbane, Cairns, Gold Coast, and the Sunshine Coast.
