QuIHN - Mission Statement:

To provide innovative and appropriate services addressing a range of drug related issues to illicit drug users and the wider community throughout Queensland .

  Respond to health needs and challenge perceptions relating to drug use throughout Queensland through linking, partnering, connecting with individuals, families, communities, business and government.

  QuIHN Vision:

  QuIHN neither condones nor condemns drug use. QuIHN's members, Board of Management, staff and volunteers are committed to supporting and promoting the health and well being of people who currently use illicit drugs, those who have used illicit drugs in the past, and members of the community touched or affected by illicit drug use.

We model good practice and respect and value transparency, professionalism, accountability, quality and effectiveness in all our operations.

And are committed to continuous evaluation and improvement of the governance and management of the organisation.

  Goals:

  1. To provide high quality, innovative, culturally appropriate, accessible and relevant services.
  2. To ensure issues and needs of our target group are represented.
  3. To assist people who use or have used illicit drugs to be linked to, and valued by, the community.
  4. To build a strong, sustainable and accountable organisation.

  Objectives:

  Goal 1: To provide high quality, innovative, culturally appropriate, accessible and relevant services.

  ·              Maintain a commitment to recruit people with appropriate expertise and to provide workforce development within all areas of the organisation.

·              Regularly conduct extensive consultation and evaluations of all QuIHN services with relevant stakeholders.

·              Embrace philosophies that are appropriate to our target groups and respond to changing needs accordingly.

  Goal 2: To ensure issues and needs of our target group are represented.

  ·              Build strategic alliances and partnerships with relevant government, peak bodies and advisory groups.

·              Raising awareness and addressing misconceptions in the public arena through media liaison and interaction with the wider community. 

·              Be aware of and acknowledge community and stakeholders’ views and needs.

  Goal 3: To assist people who use or have used illicit drugs to be linked to, and valued by, the community.

  ·              Work collaboratively with clients in a manner that creates an environment in which they are valued and empowered.

·              Promote opportunities for our target groups to participate in and contribute to all levels of the organisation. 

·              Increase client access to a range of other services in the community through networking and referral processes. 

·              Aim to reduce social inequity caused by the stigmatisation associated with illicit drug use.

  Goal 4: To build a strong, sustainable and accountable organisation.

  ·              Ensure that sound financial and transparent management policies and procedures are applied throughout the organisation.

·              Support and maintain professional and ethical standards in the actions of the Board of Directors, staff and volunteers.

·              Cultivate an environment of honesty, respect and open communication

·              Ensure accountability to target groups, funding bodies and collaborative partners is achieved.

·              Review current services and practices, and pro-actively plan for the future needs of the organisation.
